With e-commerce having a growing impact on business and consumer lifestyles, young entrepreneurs are building successful business models to meet dynamic market requirements, said Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, Executive VP – Commercial at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park.
His comments were made within the framework of DSOA’s participation as platinum sponsor at the upcoming ArabNet Digital Summit 2014. To be held from 3-5 June, 2014 at Atlantis – The Palm in Dubai, the summit is a premier international gathering of Arab digital professionals and entrepreneurs in the Middle East who have played a major role in developing the region’s web and mobile industry.
DSOA recently announced plans to establish DTEC, the largest entrepreneurship centre in the MENA region within the free zone. The centre is currently under construction and scheduled for completion in Q1 2015. At the summit, visitors will gain insight about the centre’s plans to support entrepreneurial initiatives and see for themselves the creativity of talented technology enthusiasts.
DSOA’s current technology incubation centre ‘Silicon Oasis Founders’ (SOF) will also participate at ArabNet Digital Summit 2014, with three entrepreneurs presenting their innovations and sharing success stories as digital showcases at the conference.
Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, said: “As entrepreneurship gains prominence in the region, we at DSOA seek to increasingly leverage such platforms to engage with the community. The introduction of DTEC and promotion of entrepreneurial talent from SOF at such a summit will highlight the success DSOA has achieved to date. It will also articulate our ongoing commitment to partner in the digital revolution to facilitate better lives for our community at DSO.”
Dubai Silicon Oasis is a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai and operates as a free zone for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development (R&D) facilities in the Middle East and North Africa region.
