First of its kind partnership aims to create new secure data wiping solution for smart devices to protect consumer data on old phones

Mazuma Mobile (www.mazumamobile.com) the UK’s largest consumer mobile phone recycler has signed a partnership deal with BlackBelt SmartPhone Defence to create a new data removal solution for their customers.  In an investment worth £0.5million, Mazuma Mobile and BlackBelt will form the first UK industry partnership to address the challenge of matching the increasing complexity of smartphones and tablets with secure and effective ways to completely wipe old information from recycled devices.

Smartphones now account for over 50% of all phones Mazuma recycles.   With consumers today increasingly relying on their smart devices for shopping, vouchers, ticketing and social commerce, the partnership sets out to assure Mazuma Mobile customers that important data left on old devices is erased.

Charlo Carabott, CEO of Mazuma Mobile said, “We have always taken consumer data protection seriously; Mazuma created the industry’s first data deletion tool back in 2007 for customers to use before recycling their old handsets.  But nowadays more and more consumers depend heavily on their smartphones, often using it to store sensitive personal data, meaning we simply need to raise the bar and anticipate evolving technology. Working with smartphone security experts BlackBelt gives us complete confidence that we can continue to help our customers protect their personal information when they recycle their handset or tablet with Mazuma Mobile.”

After carefully exploring a number of available options on the market, Mazuma chose to partner with BlackBelt for its specialised expertise in smartphone security and technically advanced products.

Gary Middlebrook, Chairman of BlackBelt said, “We are really pleased that Mazuma Mobile, the leading brand in consumer mobile phone recycling,  has chosen to work with BlackBelt and its DataWipe products. We pride ourselves at BlackBelt in having the most technically advanced product available and we are constantly innovating new solutions to meet the constantly evolving security challenges of the smartphone industry.”

The Mazuma Mobile and BlackBelt collaboration will be rolled out gradually over the next few months.
