Mike has worked in security and fire since 1988, initially working in business development, general management and consultancy. In 1992, he joined executive security recruitment and consultancy firm HJA Consult. He is a director of security events listings site www.AllSecurityEvents.com.
As Director of the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) in the UK and a member of its Global Advisory Board, Mike has, with the support of the UK Advisory Board, championed professional certification, education and career pathway opportunities for frontline security officers. He also writes and speaks on Mental Health and Wellbeing challenges.
He holds the top-level security certifications from both ASIS International and the IFPO.

- Joint Vice Chair/Acting Chair of ASIS International UK (2010 – 2020) and Member of the European Advisory Council.
- Secretary, ASIS international Extremism and Political Instability Community (EPIC).
