Suprema BioStation 3 Max is an enterprise-grade, AI-powered biometric access terminal designed for high-security facilities, busy entrances and large-scale deployments. Introduced in 2026 as Suprema’s flagship biometric terminal, it combines facial recognition, fingerprint authentication and multiple credential technologies within a single 7-inch touchscreen device.
At the centre of the platform is a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), enabling facial authentication in less than 0.2 seconds. Dual 2MP visual and infrared cameras support liveness detection and help identify presentation attacks involving photographs, screens and basic 3D spoofing attempts. Facial authentication operates across a distance of approximately 0.3 to 1.3 metres, allowing users of different heights to approach the terminal naturally rather than positioning themselves precisely in front of the camera.
Multiple biometrics in a single terminal
Selected BioStation 3 Max configurations combine facial recognition with a 500dpi fingerprint sensor, allowing organisations to select the authentication method appropriate to individual doors, users and security levels.
The platform can support up to 100,000 users and 100,000 face credentials for 1:1 authentication, alongside up to 100,000 fingerprint, card and PIN credentials. Fingerprint technology supports established template formats including ISO19794-2 and ANSI-378, while the sensor is MINEX certified and compliant and supports FBI PIV and FBI Mobile ID FAP20 requirements.
Biometrics can also form part of wider multi-factor authentication. Depending on configuration, BioStation 3 Max supports RFID technologies including MIFARE, DESFire EV1, EV2 and EV3, FeliCa, HID iCLASS and HID Prox, alongside NFC and Bluetooth mobile credentials, QR codes and PIN authentication.
Security beyond biometric matching
Protecting stored biometric information is central to the terminal’s architecture. BioStation 3 Max operates on a hardened Linux platform and incorporates secure boot, encrypted biometric protection and CC EAL6+ certified secure components. Suprema’s Template on Mobile capability provides an additional privacy-focused option by allowing biometric templates to be retained on a user’s mobile device rather than centrally stored.
The terminal is designed for demanding physical environments as well as high-security applications. IP65 protection provides resistance to dust and water, while an IK06 impact rating supports installation in busy entrance areas. Operating temperatures extend from -20°C to 50°C.
A built-in VoIP intercom, microphone and speaker allow the terminal to function as both an authentication device and communications point, while Gigabit Ethernet, OSDP v2 and PoE+ support simplify integration with wider access control infrastructure.
By combining rapid AI-powered facial recognition, fingerprint authentication, extensive credential support and enterprise security within one terminal, BioStation 3 Max provides a multi-modal biometric platform designed for both high-volume access and higher-assurance identity verification.
