CyberLink FaceMe Security 8.9 is an AI-powered facial recognition platform designed for physical security, surveillance and enterprise access control. The latest 2026 release combines high-accuracy face matching with liveness detection, offline authentication and two-factor access, while allowing organisations to retain biometric data within their own network rather than relying on a public cloud service.
FaceMe’s recognition engine has achieved a 99.83% true acceptance rate at a one-in-one-million false match rate in NIST Face Recognition Technology Evaluation testing. For access control applications, that recognition capability is combined with anti-spoofing technology designed to distinguish genuine users from photographs, video and 3D presentation attacks.
Strengthening biometric access control
FaceMe Security 8.9 introduces offline verification through the Face Terminal, allowing facial recognition to continue if connectivity to the central server is interrupted. Up to 10,000 enrolled users can be held locally, with databases automatically synchronised when connectivity is restored.
Two-factor authentication combines facial recognition with a physical access credential for areas requiring increased identity assurance. Face Terminal supports established Wiegand integration, enabling the biometric layer to work alongside existing access control infrastructure rather than requiring organisations to replace complete systems.
The 2026 release also introduces self-enrolment with AI-powered image-quality checks. Users can submit their own enrolment images, while the system assesses whether they meet requirements for reliable subsequent recognition. This reduces the administrative burden associated with centrally capturing biometric information across large workforces.
Visitor Access Control Management adds another layer, allowing organisations to enrol visitors, define time-limited permissions and automatically expire access after the approved period.
Privacy and security built around biometrics
As facial recognition involves particularly sensitive identity data, FaceMe Security is designed for on-premise deployment. Biometric information remains within the organisation’s environment, with TLS 1.3 communications, AES-256 encryption, database encryption and Hardware Security Module support available to protect information.
CyberLink also incorporates configurable retention and deletion controls, including functionality supporting GDPR right-to-be-forgotten requirements. The company holds ISO 27001 information-security and ISO 27701 privacy-information-management certifications.
The platform can integrate facial recognition with existing camera and VMS infrastructure, including certified integrations for Genetec Security Center and Milestone XProtect, alongside support for other established video platforms.
By combining independently evaluated recognition performance with anti-spoofing, offline operation, two-factor authentication and privacy-focused deployment, FaceMe Security 8.9 provides a biometric solution designed around both identity assurance and the operational realities of enterprise access control.
