Gallagher Security’s Command Centre v9.50 expands the platform’s biometric capabilities by introducing support for the IDEMIA VisionPass SP Fingerscan Module, combining facial recognition and fingerprint authentication within a single integrated access control environment.
The development is particularly relevant for organisations that require stronger identity assurance at high-security access points without relying on a single biometric modality. Facial recognition and fingerprint scanning can be used independently or together, while card credentials can also form part of a multi-factor authentication process. Biometric enrolment and management are handled within Gallagher Command Centre, reducing the need for operators to switch between separate access control and biometric administration systems.
Multiple biometric methods within one platform
The VisionPass SP Fingerscan integration extends Gallagher’s existing support for IDEMIA biometric devices, including facial, fingerprint and contactless wave recognition. Within Command Centre v9.50, the new module provides fingerprint authentication alongside VisionPass SP facial recognition, giving operators additional flexibility when selecting authentication methods for particular doors, users or environments.
This is important where one biometric method may be less suitable. Lighting conditions can affect facial recognition environments, while particular operational or regional requirements may favour fingerprint authentication. Combining the two allows organisations to select the appropriate method or apply multiple factors at sensitive locations.
VisionPass SP uses 3D and infrared imaging for facial recognition and incorporates presentation attack detection to help identify spoofing attempts. Verification can take place in approximately one second, while the device supports a standard database of 10,000 users that can be expanded to 50,000.
The IP65-rated hardware is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications, extending biometric access beyond controlled internal environments to perimeter and vehicle-access locations.
Centralised enrolment and identity management
The wider value of the integration comes from bringing biometric identity management into Command Centre. Operators can carry out biometric enrolment and template management through the security platform rather than maintaining an independent biometric database and workflow.
Secure OSDP communications support connectivity between compatible IDEMIA readers and Gallagher infrastructure, with OSDP Secure Channel used to strengthen communications between devices.
Command Centre also supports combinations of biometric readers and conventional Gallagher access readers, allowing organisations to apply higher-assurance authentication only where required rather than converting every access point.
Alongside biometric enhancements, v9.50 introduces automated access and credential workflows through AccessNow, accessibility-focused PIN exemptions and expanded reporting capabilities. Together, these developments provide a platform where identity, credentials, biometric authentication and access policies can be managed as connected elements of the same security environment.
For organisations operating sensitive facilities, Gallagher Command Centre v9.50 provides a flexible approach to biometrics that combines facial and fingerprint recognition with established access control infrastructure and centralised identity management.
